A Note Before You Start
This recipe needs to be refrigerated for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Ingredients
1 bottle of your favorite red wine. We happen to love Italian wines.
1 orange thinly sliced
1 lemon thinly sliced
1 lime thinly sliced
2 cups of blueberries
1 cup of Cointreau (or you can use brandy)
1 cup of blood orange juice (regular orange juice works too)
1 chilled bottle of seltzer or bubbly water - optional
Fresh mint for garnish
Preparation
Step 1: In a large pitcher add the fruit and the cointreau and the blood orange juice. Gently muddle (using the back of a spoon or a pestle if you have one, press on the citrus and berries to release their juices) the fruits to extract their flavors and infuse the Cointreau and juice.
Step 2: Add the bottle of red wine and stir to combine. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Step 3: Fill a glass with ice and fill three-fourths of the way full with the sangria. Top off each glass with seltzer if desired. Garnish with citrus section and fresh mint.
